Furniture!

So, today Jeff and I woke up at the crack of dawn and divided the contents of our spare bedroom into three piles: storage, trash, and goodwill....ANYONE who has dared to enter the spare bedroom knows that this was a daring feat! You could barely walk in there! Honestly though, it was not as bad as I thought, just lots of sorting and going through things. Gotta make room for little man! Then, we headed to target and bought the crib and changing table. I LOVE THEM. The only problem is, we need to find a dresser in charcoal to match them because the set did not have a matching dresser. Babies R Us online has a few that I like, but the shipping charges are outrageous and they cannot be purchased in the store. Grrrr. So anywho. I am now sitting here, watching Jeff put together all the furniture. He likes having a project I think it makes him feel more included in the baby process :0)

Umm....Change of Diet NEEDED!

Okay, so I have been eating HORRIBLY lately...I should be consuming about 1620 calories a day, and lets just say I have been consuming MUCH more. I was doing really well until Friday of last week.....then it was just all down hill from there. Plus, I cannot get motivated to workout or exercise...its awful.... SO. Tomorrow I am going to start logging my meals in everyday so I can visually see what all I am feeding my little one. I am gonna start with a fresh clean slate and TRY to exercise too.....wish me luck!

Proud Mama of....

A BABY BOY! we are SOOO excited!

So here's how it all panned out. The last two weeks I have been having severe back pain in my lower back. I called my Dr. Dave today because it was finally getting really bad and he put me on bed rest for the day, and sent me to Advanced Medical Imaging to get an Ultrasound to check on the little one. I told Jeff he didn't have to go because it was just going to be a check up, but that if we were able to find out did he want me to find out? He said yes to find out, sooooo....I arrived at my appointment and the same ultrasound tech that I have had for years there, and she took pictures of the baby's every single inch. From major arteries, to organs, to toes, to limbs, she took it all! It took almost two hours, but it was GREAT!!!! I enjoyed every minute of watching my baby on that screen. Everything looked perfect! Including the little "boy part" which suddenly popped up OBVIOUSLY on the screen! I was like "OMG it's a boy isn't it?" And she said yup you have a boy!!! My hear leaped! I wasn't sure how Jeff would react because he had really thought this whole time that the baby was a girl! After the ultrasound, I drove to Target and bought two newborn shirts. One which read "I love Dad" and one which read "Team Daddy" with a football helmet on it. I planned to give those to Jeff later in the evening during dinner along with the "pee pee" ultrasound picture :0) When I was at Target, Jane, Dr. Dave's nurse called me and let me know that the ultrasound results all looked great, but that they wanted to put me on bed rest for 3 days to help my back. Also, they ordered me a urine test to make sure that it wasn't a kidney issue. So I drove over to the Quest lab, they gave me the pee cup and I had a Prego Brain moment. I just sat down like normal and peed...not in the cup. UGH! I was so mad at myself. Luckily, the guy didnt make a big deal and just sent me home with cup and had me bring it back later...geez these Prego-Brain moments are gonna be the death of me! So after I went and dropped off the pee, I came home and Jeff and I got ready to go to dinner at Olive Garden. SO good. When we got there and he saw the "present" he was like a kid on Christmas and couldnt wait to open it so I let him open it as soon as we sat down. He was shocked at first, but I could tell he was excited to find out that he is having a son. It is so crazy that we can finally refer to the baby as HIM haha! The name we have chosen is Hayden James Pfeifer. :0)

Today Something Clicked

Today, I am 16 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Someone said to me today, 'You should have waited longer after you were 21 to get pregnant.' Really? How dare they? This is the most amazing thing that has ever occurred in my and my husband's life and I could not be prouder or happier to be experiencing this amazing time in my life. Of course, the times of going out with friends, being skinny, and partying like it's 1969 were great, but as I lay here in bed every night and get to feel this beautiful baby moving around (I have just the last couple days been feeling it quite a bit more often hehe), those days can honestly be just a memory because there is not place I would rather be in my life then right here. When this person said this to me, not only was I shocked and offended, but it became clear to me how little this person knew me and how much I don't care about what others think about me anymore. Watching my child move around on that ultrasound screen while my husband stared grinning ear to ear right next to me, so excited that he recognized the baby's spine, made me realize that no one, not even the most cruel and evil, will ever take the joy that I feel away from me; or from us. What a rejuvenating feeling :0)

16 Weeks!

So I have been horrible at keeping this thing up! But here I am! Jeff and I got married this past weekend and it could not have been more beautiful....honestly, everything went perfect. Until Tuesday morning when I woke up with a horrible sore throat....and of course, you can't take ANYTHING that works when you are prego!! Today I am SOO extremely stuffy!!! But on the plus side, we got to go to another appointment! Jeff got to go this time and see the baby's spine, hands, little booty hehehe. It was awesome...and we FINALLY got to hear the heartbeat! I recorded it on my phone and have been listening to it all day :0) I hope this cold goes away soon because I am SO over it.... here's a picture from today! At the next appointment we get to find out what the sex is!!! YAY!

15 Weeks :0)

You know what I have realized? I was bigger at the beginning of my pregnancy than I am right now....I think what I 'thought' was a baby bump earlier on was actually bloating!! I think that I am just now actually starting to "show" haha....It's becoming very common that people are placing their bets and "telling" me what I am having as we approach the coming appointments to find out!! I am choosing to plug my ears and tune out all of the "symptoms" telling me what I'm having. Here's the research that I have found:
  • Myth: Carrying your baby "high" means you will have a boy; carrying "low" means you will have a girl.
Reality: Lots of factors go into how you look when you are pregnant, including the age of the fetus as well as their position, size, and the mother's overall body shape. If she is short waisted, for example, her pregnancy may look different from a woman who is long waisted. But nothing about the shape has to do with the baby's sex, says Leipzig.
  • Myth: Suspending a gold ring from a string over a pregnant woman's belly can predict the sex depending on the way it swings -- back and forth for a boy, in a circular motion for a girl.
Reality: "There is nothing about the gender of a baby that will influence the pull of gravity. But some folks believe that, much like a Ouija board, the direction the ring swings may be influenced by the thoughts of the person holding the string -- and they will always be right 50% of the time," says Bartholomew.
  • Myth: If the hair on your legs grows faster during pregnancy it's a boy; if it grows slower, it's a girl.
Reality: The logic here is that because testosterone may influence hair growth, carrying a boy -- who would ostensibly have more testosterone than a girl -- will do the same. Masch says it's untrue. "There isn't enough hormone present in a fetus to have any significant hormonal impact on the mother's body, let alone cause the hair on her legs to grow," she says.
  • Myth: If you crave sour or salty foods, it's a boy; sweets, it's a girl.
Reality: Although doctors aren't totally sure what causes a woman to crave certain foods during pregnancy, most universally agree the baby's sex isn't one of them. "There is nothing about carrying a boy or a girl that would influence a woman's taste buds," says Masch.
  • Myth: If a pregnant woman's urine is a dull color, it's a girl; if it's a bright color, it's a boy.
Reality: "The only thing that influences the color of a pregnant woman's urine is how much fluid she consumes -- if she's a little dehydrated, it will be a darker color; if she's drinking a lot of water, it will be lighter," says Bartholomew.

SO HA! we just can't wait to find out what the DOCTOR says!

excited!!!!
